Staite stars as Abigail Bianchi in Family Law. Abigail is a divorced lawyer with two kids – one with autism. Abigail tends to blame others but has difficulty accepting responsibility for herself, having an alcohol dependency which put her career on the line when she appeared drunk in court; when this occurred again her career was at stake and required one year probationary period and finding a senior partner as mentor before returning to practice law again.

She meets Harry Svensson, head of a top family law firm and agrees to work for him. However, he asks her to join as his partner but she declines due to not thinking he is business-minded enough. Meanwhile she begins dating Daniel while Aidan grows fond of her.

Abigail and Daniel represent a mail-order bride seeking annulment from her marriage due to neurological condition caused by her former husband. Abigail collects medical records that prove this correlation. Together with Daniel they assist the client in getting custody of her children.

Abigail and Harry defend Crystal, a mother who refuses to vaccinate her child; later she changes her mind and finds a job. Harry and Abigail argue over a custody case involving a cancer-stricken woman fighting for her life for five years and ultimately win it. Meanwhile, Abigail sees Lucy making out with Asha at a restaurant and this gives her insight into how her own relationship issues may not be as serious. Despite having broken heart issues of her own, Abigail continues working her caseload; taking on cases such as her work involving an abusive wife and her neurodivergent son caseload as well.
